Shaolin

I was so bored during the CNY holidays and FYP and Li till I was fed up with Shah Alam (Yeah,I'm going to do my Li outside of Shah Alam).

Anyway, I went out to watch a movie with my Uni-mate which was a 1st after a long, long, long time, asked him to decide on which movie to watch and turns out that Shaolin was available. Andy Lau, Jacky Chan and Nicholas Tse were in it. ( So long haven't watched a movie that is not English).

Before I start talking about the movie,I would like to announce that I lost my virginity in Nando's and I still prefer Kenny Rogers, the portion was small, somehow Coke can transform into Ice Lemon Tea midway.

The movie was WONDERFUL,Full of emotions and meanings. When we saw Andy Lau,he was a heartless person, just imagine he dared to shoot a general in a temple even though the general already gave up on fighting.Even Nicholas Tse wasn't that ruthless. And then,Andy was comfortable with the idea of killing his blood bro when the blood bro was gonna give him everything. U'll definitely curse Andy whenever he appears. The only thing that I like was he was patriotic.

Then Nicholas double crossed him and the death of his daughter shook his view of things and begins to repent. Btw,Nicholas is still cute even he is evil. (Haven't seen his movies for a long time de)

The character that I like most is the one played by Jacky; he knows his flaws and he's non-judgmental and wise.

Overall,I would not mind to watch the movie again and again, everything was perfect.

The dialogue that I like the most is:

Abbot: Which would u prefer a bar of gold or a lump of mud?
Jacky: Of cos,gold.
Abbot: Wouldn't a seed be more useful? Everything and everyone has its own place and time.

Meaningful kan?

Inception

Have u ever wish that u can change a memory or read ppl's subconscious or try to plan an idea on someone's mind? How easy life would be if u can do the above.. How many misunderstandings that u can rectify? How many unwanted questions that u can avoid? Most important, how many broken hearts u can avoid?

While watching the movie,Inception,I was thinking about the above... So many sweet memories turned bitter just becos of one's inability to say the right words at the right time,to fail to see the proper intention of misguided sentences. How easy would life be if we could see the bare thoughts of one's mind.....

But if we can do all of the above, the words," I'm sorry" would lose its sweetness..........

2 tear inducing movies

I watched 2 movies with R 2day while waiting for streamyx to get its butt fixed. It was nice, just sitting on the couch, hugging each other while feeding each other 1 foot Subway sandwiches and the same time, tears running down my cheeks.

The 2 movies were:

1) My Name is Khan

I wanted to watch this in the cinema but lucky,I didn't cos every 30 mins,my tear glands were activated. Although, this movie is similar to Forrest Gump but the msg was different. The movie was about a Asperger's patient who traveled across America to deliver a short msg to the President which is,"My name is Khan and I'm not a terrorist."In his journey,he had touched the lives of many and changed the perception of a nation.

The movie shows how Asians especially those from the Indian subcontinent suffered from the aftermath of 9/11. The dialogues were great,I liked 1 line which goes sumting like this," There were 2 ways that ppl used to mark time,AD and BC... Now there is one more,9/11."

Besides the great storyline and beautiful scenes, this movie marks the 1st collaboration between Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan since Kajol got married. To those who don't know, their movies were the bomb, they are Bollywood's King and Queen.

2) Blind Side

I didn't know that this movie came out and only heard a bit of it here and there.

The movie is about a Republican family who adopted a black kid into the family and opened him doors to a world that he didn't know. Surprised? Me too,I mean a Republican doing a kind act to a black kid?Hell must be a cold place now.. Anyway,it shows that ppl do have a heart and colour doesn't mean a thing to these kind souls.

Favorite line from this movie is " Who knew that we'll have a democrat as a fren after adopting a black kid."

Watch it and weep,frens

NINE

I had watched "NINE" which is actually a musical earlier which wasn't intended at all. My frens and I went to Sunway Pyramid during a lesson gap and wanted to watch ALICE but unfortunately, the times available weren't suitable for us so we watched "NINE" instead.

Frankly,u need ur braincells to understand this movie and its plots, its sumting like Book of ELI.

On the surface,it tells a story about a director who is like James Cameron. He has released a lot of fantastical movie till the critics labeled him a maestro but unfortunately, his last 2 movies were a flop. The events in the movie occurs when he is getting ready to start shooting another movie but he doesn't have any script or idea for the latest movie.

Deep down,the movie tell us:

1) How he got inspiration for his movies from 7 different women which are his momma, his fren, his wife, his mistress, his leading actress, his childhood crush and finally his critic. The 7 women is akin to the 7 muses in Roman mythology.
(Calliope,Clio,Erato,Urania,Thalia,Terpsichore,Euterpe,Melpomene and Polyhymia).

2) The 7 women also show us the persona of Woman which the faithful wive, the loving mother, the nurturing fren, the seductresses, the adviser and the short sighted.

3) It also shows us how a genius is forced to maintain his achievements so that he wouldn't be forget and how a genius copes with the fame, fortune and women.

4) I think this movie shows how horny the Italians are. This guy has is actually playing "kayu 4-5 not kayu 3".

Enuff about the plot. The scenes of this movie is fantastical.I think if this movie is played in Spore, its going to labeled R(a) which means only those who are over 21 can watch it,its high in erotic content. I was surprised that it is played here. U can definitely think that Bacchus had made this movie instead of humans. The songs were superb, the moves are EROTIC.

My favourite parts are during Kate Hudson's,there plenty of Italian men wearing suits dancing, when Nicole Kidman's song, she look refined and lastly,Penelope Cruz's song,I actually regretted being gay. Fergie looked a bit plump in the movie.

Overall,I'm happy that I agreed to watch this movie.

Ps: if u want to learn lap dance,u definitely have to watch it.
Pps: I know that some books stated that there are 3 muses je but really do I care?

The Book of Eli

1st of all,I want u to close ur eyes, imagine a world where only a few could read, books are considered as weapons of power and u have the knowledge of a book which so valuable that men would kill/ransom u for it.

That,my frens, is the plot of this movie. Simple, rite?

I like the movie although it made me yawn a few times,u'll get what they are trying to do at the end of movie. (so buy a cd and fast forward till the last 30 mins).

I think the ppl behind the movie wants to promote reading to the masses (after all, movies are a powerful tool of propaganda). But seriously, who knows with the weather going all weird, the knowledge that u have now could make u a powerful man.

So what's the Book of Eli? As cliche as it might sound, its the Bible, the last remaining copy of it which is memorized by Eli,word for word, verse for verse. The actual book is in braille so its useless to all except for those who know braille and guess what,in that post apocalyptic world, only a few know how to read braille.

So let's buy and read more books and take up braille too...
As all the wise men had said," knowledge is power".

Ps: spare a penny for Chileans

2012

I went to watch it at Bukit Raja alone since either the regular kakis were free or haven't watch it.
The movie was superbly done.

One part of the movie made me think, its about the option of either be left behind or follow and start a new world,I wonder would I have enuff guts to choose the 1st option so that others could live. The part that I hate is the movie discrimates Muslims, they show that the temples, churches and synagogues being destroyed but what about Mosques, why spare us or maybe we're to insignificant to have some airtime. Damm you,Taliban.

This movie is definitely on my "to watch it again".

Ps: had a long day hence the short post.

IP Man

This the most recent movie that i watched,IPman. The movie is great, those who haven't watch it should go and watch. The movie is about Master Ip, Bruce lee's mentor. The movie focuses on 2 timelines, the 1st half is before the WW 2 and the second half is during WW 2.

Master Ip never had dreamt that he would open a kung fu school based on Wing Chun, its only after the WW 2 and the sufferings he faced that he opened a school to teach the virtues of kung fu especially Wing Chun.

When i went back and researched about Wing Chun. Its history surprised me cos its founder is a shaolin nun.The oral story of Wing Chun by Master Ip is as below:

After escaping the destruction of the Fujian Shaolin Monastery by Qing forces, the Abbess Ng Mui fled to the distant Daliang mountains (大涼山) on the border between Yunnan and Sichuan. One day, she came upon a fight between a snake and a crane (or other animal). She took the lessons she learned from observing the fight between the two animals and combined them with her own knowledge of Shaolin kung fu to create a new style.

Ng Mui often bought her bean curd at the tofu shop of Yim Yee (嚴二). Yim Yee had a daughter named Yim Wing-Chun (嚴詠春) whom a local warlord was trying to force into marriage. Ng Mui taught her new fighting style to Wing-Chun, who used it to fend off the warlord once and for all. Wing-Chun eventually married a man she loved, Leung Bok-Chao (梁博儔), to whom she taught the fighting techniques that Ng Mui had passed on to her. Husband and wife in turn passed the new style on to others.
