Omega point

"The more complex a being is, so our Scale of Complexity tells us, the more it is centered upon itself and therefore the more aware does it become. In other words, the higher the degree of complexity in a living creature, the higher its consciousness; and vice versa. The two properties vary in parallel and simultaneously. If we depict them in diagrammatic form, they are equivalent and interchangeable." --Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, The Future of Man, p.111

I had this interesting talk with frens during supper just now. Its about limits. The main question was," Is there a limit or its limitless?"

This question reminded me of Omega point theory by the Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, he states that Omega point is the maximum limit of complexity and consciousness that can be achieved by a being or thing.

Examples of Omega point:

1) If u stretch a rubber band,it can only expand so much then it will contract.

2) The expansion of the Universe is actually limited by the space and mass it holds, meaning after the Universe reached a certain point,it will start to contract and thus creating chaos in the order of things.

3) Evolution is also being limited by this theory. U can expand the gene pool by doing mix breeding but after a certain period of time, the gene pool will begin to shrink and cases of in-breeding will rise.

Ok,lets incorporate this Omega Theory in life,k.As u may recall the phase," There is no limit to what you can achieve." Realistically, Everyone has a limit in every aspect. A person can just endure a certain percentage of abuse or a certain limit of success before they fall. For example, the Greek and Roman heroes had limits to their power,Achilles had the Achilles heel while Alexander the Great could only expand his domain to a certain area and suffered from mutinies and disgrace.Even I have limits to what I can do.

So what actually Limits us from achieving? Well, its our needs. Ppl in marketing shuld know about Maslow's hierarchy of needs. According to Maslow, Needs is divide into 5 categories which are Physiological,Safety,Love,Esteem and Self-actualization. More on Needs, click here.

For example, a vagabond wouldn't have time to think of the hidden secrets of the universe as he needs to survive. His Needs limit his thoughts to just focus on survival. Another example,Thinkers or Scholars of the olden days are rich, they are rich enuff to be able to sit and think of theories to explain their philosophies of life. You may argue that some thinkers or even writers were poor but if you examine their works, they are limited to their social standing or norms.

The best example of Limits in the way that ppl think is before the 17th century,Everyone thought the Earth is the center of the universe, everything else were revolving around it including the Sun.Its only after the invention of telescopes that ppl were convinced that the Sun is actually the center of the universe. By the year 2000, the scientists actually discovered that the Sun is just the center of our galaxy and its actually a star.

There are many other examples of Omega points or Limits in our daily life.

It is said that Humans who had reached their Omega point will be able to become one with God or to able to comprehend the mysteries of the Universe.Just imagine the power of humans who had transcended. Or u could just use Omega Point theory to explain why u can't get an A to ur parents.
